Iris Flowers Calling all flower lovers! This new design will have you smitten with the genus Iris. Lightweight, comfortable, and easy to travel with, this will be your favorite purple, lilac, blue, and turquoise hat! Did you know there are more than 300 species in the family Iridaceae? We didn't! The Katherine Homes Iris Flower painting is a tribute to the vast beauty found in the many irises found in the wild and our backyards. According to the FDA, continuing loss of habitat threatens many of our native irises as many of them occur in fragile, easily damaged habitats, such as wet meadows, swamps, and other wetland habitats. We should be very careful not to damage the irises or their habitat when viewing and photographing irises in the wild. We have 28 iris species native to the lower 48 states, including Alaska. They are all unique and beautiful in their own right. We are a 1% for the Planet Member, which means will are committed to giving at least 1% of our sales to partner organizations.

Hi! I’m Katherine Homes, friends call me KT! I’m an artist, activist, and have an interesting environmental background that is too long to fit on this page, but I'll try. When I was very little I was very shy. I often played behind my house in our tiny forest and sang to the birds, caught fireflies, counted shooting stars, and believed I could heal hurt animals with the energy in my hands. In my late teens and early 20's I got lucky and attended a university that had some of the most incredible outdoor and environmental professors and they changed my life. My love for the arts, music, outdoors and wildlife persisted.
