In 1993, our founder, Brian Sehner, left Chicago in an old Chevy Astro cargo van for a summer job at an adventure camp in Durango, Colorado—a place he’d never even heard of. He fell in love with the mountains, rivers, open spaces, and life out West. What started as one summer out West became a life out West—he never really went back.

After years spent working at summer camps, guiding wilderness trips in Alaska, teaching skiing in Colorado, running rivers across the West, and leading outdoor adventures for teens, Brian settled in Arizona. In 2004, he started CampBound from his garage with a few hundred dollars and a washer and dryer for a shipping station. What began as a small online shop outfitting kids for summer camp eventually grew into something much bigger. In 2016, we opened our first brick-and-mortar shop in Historic Downtown Chandler.

That winding journey eventually became Earthwild—our family-run outdoor lifestyle shop and brand inspired by the West, a life spent outside, and a desire to protect the wild places that started it all.

More than 30 years later, we still believe what that first summer taught us: wild places can change your life. And they’re worth protecting.
