The day of the dead, or, Dia De Los Muertos, is a Mexican holiday that takes place on November 1st and 2nd of the year. Sugar Skulls represent a departed soul and are used to celebrate the memories of our loved ones who have passed on. Ofrendas, or alters, are built in late October and serve as a celebration of life. Along with photos of our loved ones, an ofrenda usually will display all the elements; candles for fire, bread for Earth, papel picado (cut paper) for wind, and bottles of water for water. The marigolds are there to guide the spirits back with their unique and beautiful scent and the bread and water are there to feed and hydrate their spirits after the long journey.
We personally love the intricate design and pastel colors of this Sugar Skull pin! Measures 1.25 inches on the long side and has a double pin back.
Materials: Metal. The metal borders and back are a dyed metal finish.
Perfect Gift For: Sugar Skull Fans / Dia De Los Muertos Celebrations
